.............
I acknowledge the Southern Alps that I stand beneath.
I acknowledge the Clutha River that rushes passed me.
I acknowledge the lake of kāti Hāwea people that flows.
How fortunate am I to have the opportunity to learn my art forms within your reach.
To the goddesses and gods who are the source of all things, thank you, thank you, thank you all.
My lineage hails to the lands of Scotland, Ireland and Europe.
The South Island is my nourishment; Dunedin is my base.
My heart was raised by the values of the collective that is New Zealand.
I descend from the extensive familial lines of the Cannans, the Mckays, the Gillespies, the Scotts, the Thomsons & the Mansons.
I am Emily Anne Cannan, my sincere gratitude to you all.
